Erwin De Muer

Muhka, Antwerp, from 21.05.2010 till 22.08.2010.

Auguste Orts second group show covered the ground floor of Muhka in Antwerp. The exhibition included screen works by the 4 artists and presented a series of letters they have been writing to each other as well as to the show’s curator. The correspondence touches upon individual motifs and motivations, and probes into shared affinities and common interests.

The letters, spread out on white tables, were accompanied by translations, additional text material and images that was UV printed directly on the laminate table tops. Turquoise painted walls were the backdrop and marked the routing of the exhibition. This carefully chosen color gave the exhibition a clear identity without the need to work with a particular image that could compromise one of the works on display.

To mark the exhibition in time a hand polished stainless steel bookcase was designed and contained all the publications by the artists at the moment of the opening.
